What Hides in the Dark [M][AA]

"Well yes, I figured that one out alright." Yvaine grumbled softly as she looked up from the crackling fire, only to see how the startled blonde boy had fallen backwards, and was scrambling to get up. 'Boy' she thought, because beside his length his face looked rather youthful in comparison; kids these days seemed to grow tall as trees before they even grew their first chest hair. If she could make an estimate he'd be about as tall as her, though she might have gained an inch on him or so. Then again, wild guess. But it seemed like the young man wasn't planning on staying, the only thing stopping him from physically leaving being the Houndoom at his side, who'd seemed rather nervous at first, but now was showing behavior almost bordering on hostile-- yet the more disturbing part was the fact that it was not directed at her or her Zoroark, prompting the redhead to get on her feet, eyes keenly surveying the edges of the forest. The fire's light was barely reaching far enough to give her a proper view of her surroundings, but it was clearer than ever that something was off. Even the shadows cast by the fire were dancing in an almost disrupted motion. Zoroark snarled at the forest, while Yvaine dared glance at the moon; it came as late realisation that the once bright moon had turned an eerie orange, and that the light reflected on the ground was in fact the moonlight rather than the extent of her fire's reach. "Hey you, get away from those treelines, now! Yvaine exclaimed, gesturing for the blonde to get closer to her. She'd only had to nod for her Zoroark to turn around, keeping watch, and making sure nothing tried to sneak up on them from behind. "This isn't good…" The redhead grumbled softly, bridging the distance herself if the young man didn't. Even though they were strangers to one another, he did not seem to be involved in this strange phenomenon… and even if he were, two were better than one if the forest turned against them. "Did you notice anything strange when coming here? Anything out of the ordinary?" she'd ask him rather brusquely, her face stern while her eyes looked beyond him, at whatever was hiding in the shadows beyond the treeline. Keenan Toral
